The main objectives of the optimized operation of the vertical mill lie in realizing excellence and stable production. There are many factors that influence the optimized operation of this grinding mill such as the production process of the powder grinding, mill type, specifications and models, the physical property of the materials, quantity of the material fed into the mill, product fineness, powder selection efficiency, cycle load and the grinding pressure, which influence and interact with each other. This paper mainly focuses on the optimized operation of the vertical mil.

1. Adjust the material feeding.

(1) Adjust the water content of the materials that are fed into the grinding mill. When the average water content of the materials exceed the drying load of the grinding mill, the materials will stick onto the roller path and crust and form the buffer layer, thus reducing the powder grinding efficiency, for this reason, the water content of the materials fed into the grinding mill should be strictly controlled within 12%.

(2) Adjust the feeding quantity according to the workload of the mill. In order to make full use of the grinding efficiency of the mill and make the mill reach higher output, the workers should maintain stable and proper feeding quantity, which can be timely adjusted according to the power of the grinding mill or the changing of the electric current.

2. Adjust the cycle amount.

After the grinding mill works stably, it is not advisable to change the cycle amount to avoid the stability of the system. Generally speaking, the workers only change it when the materials are newly matched up or the granularity of the materials change. The cycle amount can be changed according to the electric current of the cycle bucket elevator and the changing of the dropping value of the calcium carbonate in order to keep it in a proper range.

3. Adjust the hot air to ensure hot air balance.

The vertical mill is a special machine of the air-swept mill. Only when the drying ability and the powder grinding ability reaches dynamic balance can it realize systematic stable. For this reason, the workers should correctly and timely adjust the hot air according to the working condition in order to satisfy the requirement of the powder grinding mill to the drying process.
